Teacher Zone
Curriculum mapping
“Dear Chris Knott, I’ve had a look at the Teacher Zone and it looks FANTASTIC and seems to really have a firm grasp on the ‘equitable’ part of partnership.”
Welcome to the Teachers’ Zone page. Here you will find plenty of ideas and resources to help you work on a joint project which is both equitable and meaningful for children in the UK and in Malawi. We are very excited about our latest project ‘Clean Hands’ which covers a range of topics including health and hygiene and first aid. Why not design and build your own tippy tap, or go on a health walk to map the facilities in your local area? Then share your learning with your partner school using a messaging service such as WhatsApp. Our activities are very much ‘cross-curricular’ and have been designed to be relevant and achievable by schools in both countries, not to mention great fun! For lesson plans, Power Points and more just follow our ‘Clean Hands’ link on the toolbar above.
But that’s not all. We have many other project areas which include learning activities, teaching resources, related videos and shared work/ case studies for you to see in our archive below. Many of these have been developed by Starfish schools, so they are tried and tested in both the UK and Malawi. Why not have a browse and see if anything links in with your current areas of learning, or might be useful later in the school year? We have even added links to the curriculum in Malawi, just to help pull everything together.

Shared Activities
Involving students in curriculum work throughout their schooling allows joint collaborative projects to emerge and embed themselves in the School Plan. Shared activities will be undertaken within the educational context, rather than as a bolt-on. Some activities have been suggested, which Starfish will support and develop. They are not intended to limit the work that can be done, but rather to give some ideas. Each year the topic will be refreshed and re-examined, with reflection, to see what changes have taken place in the knowledge, attitude and behaviour of children in both countries.
Schools will be encouraged to take part in the shared learning as a whole school process.
